Rolling Stone Takes Look at How Cannabis-Themed Porn Is Budding

LOS ANGELES — Rolling Stone over the weekend discussed a less talked-about product of the cannabis revolution that is growing with gust — weed porn.

Most in the adult entertainment industry have seen the budding business firsthand, and now consumers are catching a puff of this relatively new trend with countless porn star-produced clips, custom videos and cam shows showcasing performers partaking in the ever-more-legal pastime, Rolling Stone said in article titled, “Weed Porn: How Two Taboos Became Popular Bedfellows.”

“At least one porn company creates exclusively pot-related content, while many others occasionally dabble in delivery-man plotlines with a whole new angle,” the article said, noting that porn tube sites like Pornhub are seeing searches skyrocket for 420.

Pot and porn are like peanut butter and jelly, said Kristel Penn, an industry publicist whose client is Emerald Triangle Girls, which devotes its content to 420-focused material.

"I think porn and weed are sister industries," Penn told Rolling Stone. "Each carries its own stigma, misinformation from the outside and taboo — although both are multibillion-dollar industries."

Many adult performers are proud to discuss marijuana and describe partaking in it as a daily routine

"Weed is just a part of who I am," said Kendra Sunderland, a recently retired adult star. "Everyone knows I'm a stoner."

And Sunderland said that it only made sense to capitalize on that persona.

"All my merchandise and everything that I make is all weed related. I have my own rolling papers and grinders and lighters," she said.

“Weed merchandizing is becoming more accessible as the industry becomes more legal, and some porn stars have even gone so far as to brand their own strains of weed, like now-retired Skin Diamond.”

The article went on to discuss marijuana and porn with Ela Darling, Vicki Chase, Richell Ryan, Mia Little and director Fivestar.
